New Year's 2014 - Koh Phi Phi

Sawadee Ka,

So at the end of December I had the privilege of going to Phuket Thailand to celebrate New Year's.  I took an overnight bus from Bangkok to Phuket and the bus ride was 12 hours!!!  My seat mate was a lawyer that lives in Bangkok but was from Phuket and she was extremely nice.  I did not have an itinerary for my trip, I just knew that I wanted to go to the beach.  I know that Southern Thailand is known for it's beautiful beaches and scenery.  So, when I arrived at my hostel, the first thing that I wanted to do was plan a trip to the beaches.  I was able to spend a day touring some of the beaches and it was an awesome experience.  The day started with a boat ride to Khai Nok Island, then to Maya Bay on Koh Phi Phi island (where the movie The Beach was filmed) and then a tour of Koh Phi Phi Don Island.  The day was AMAZING and one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen in my life!!!  I was just amazed at the rock  formations/limestone cliffs in the middle of the Andaman Sea, no one but GOD can create something like this.  I met an interracial couple on the trip that live in Sri Lanka.  The husband works for the government and the wife is a nurse.  I have a rule while I am away, MOST of the time if I see a brown-skinned individual and I hear them speak English, I go up and introduce myself (It's just my thing).  The wife was really nice and she told me that when she saw me she was not sure if I was American or not, she told me that I have the complexion where I can be from India or many other countries.  We had a great conversation and they gave me some great tips about enhancing my resume and career.  All in all the day was great and I am looking forward to going back and exploring more of Southern Thailand.
